Background and experience

Nigel is a trainer and consultant who has worked both independently and on a subcontracted basis with staff and managers in the public, private and voluntary sectors since 1995. He has also worked on policy development, with most of his work focused on delivering training courses designed to reduce the risks associated with Work-related Violence and Conflict Management. The organisations for which he has delivered training include The National Health Service, Probation Services, Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Construction and Connexions companies and BP amongst others.

Previously he worked as a secondary school science teacher and also as a statutory inspector for the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (now DEFRA). Immediately before becoming self-employed, he worked as a Probation Officer and Probation Centre Co-ordinator. This work including designing and leading a core programme of work with groups of offenders.
